Vice President of Operations
Geralyn Smith is a native of Huntsville, Alabama where she has lived and grown up in the Northside community. Her career began in high school as a daycare worker at her church, St. Mark Baptist Church. Mrs. Smith has a running record of teaching in school systems across Madison County. She currently works as an educator in Huntsville City Schools. She is also an educational consultant for The Legacy Center and Everybody Vs Racism, LLC.
Her role in Grateful Recovery goes beyond education, as she serves her community by implementing Grateful Recovery’s vision, mission, and overall direction. Geralyn is a two-time graduate of Alabama A&M University with a bachelor’s in biology and a master’s in early childhood education. She is in pursuit of her Doctorate in Executive Leadership in Mental Health and Human Services.
Vice President of Client Affairs
Ricky Howard is a native of Tuskegee and raised in Pittsview, Alabama where he attended and graduated from Pittsview Elementary and Jr. High and Russell County High. After high school graduation he enlisted in the United States Navy. He later served in the United States Navy Reserves for 13 years.
In March of 1991 he enrolled at Alabama A&M University where he obtained his BA Degree in Telecommunications with a minor in English. While at Alabama A&M University he was an active member of several organizations, including Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Incorporated. In November of 2007 he enlisted in the Alabama National Guard (231st MP Battalion) where he served for two years until his honorable discharge. Ricky’s professional duties over the years have included five years as contracted Counseling Supervisor for The Alabama Department of Youth Services, five years of Adolescent Group facilitator at Bradford Health Services, 10 years as a Drug Treatment Director at Limestone Correctional Facility, and 10 years as the Substance Use Linkage & Treatment Manager for Thrive Alabama in Huntsville where he is currently employed.
Vice President of Financial Affairs
Mrs. Hughes has been a professional supervisor and management of finances for over 30 years. She is well versed in general accepted accounting principles and understands the fiscal requirements of public accounts. She currently supervises the business office clerical and accounting staff, payroll, and human resource manager.
She obtained a degree in Business Administration/Accounting at North Alabama College of Commerce in Huntsville, AL.
Mrs. Hughes has been a deaconess at her church for 25 years and a member of the Missionary Society for 50 years.
Counselor and Recovery Facilitator
Mr. Anderson serves as the Counselor and Recovery Facilitator. He is a staple in the community with over 30 years of experience in Mental Health and Addictive Diseases.
He is a Certified Peer Specialist, Certified Recovery Educator, Certified Whole Health and Wellness Coach, Certified WRAP Facilitator, Certified Mental Health First Aid Trainer, Trained in Trauma Informed Care, Founder of Beautiful Scars, Inc., and a Bestselling Author.
Clinical Director
Juan Bailey is a native of Courtland Alabama. He graduated from Courtland High where he earned honors in the classroom and on the football field. His academic and football accomplishments were rewarded with a scholarship to Jacksonville State University. While at JSU he started his career in Mental Health at Three Springs in 1994 by working with children. In 1996 he graduated from Jacksonville State with a BS degree in Psychology. After graduation, he relocated to Huntsville and continued his work at Three Springs. His continued thirst for knowledge fueled his post-graduate pursuits. He graduated from Alabama A&M University in 2003 with a master’s degree in counseling psychology. He left Three Springs in 2004 and began working with A Contract Mental Health Provider for the Alabama Department of Corrections where he served as the Site Administrator at Limestone Correctional. Juan continues to work in Corrections as the Regional Program Director for a Contract Mental Health Provider. Juan also worked at Decatur Morgan West Behavioral Medicine Center as an Admission and Referral Coordinator from 2005 until 2018. Juan is a Licensed Professional Counselor. Juan’s commitment to public service did not begin today as he has been a proud Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc. member since 1992 and currently serves as a Committee Chair for Beta Epsilon Sigma Graduate Chapter in Huntsville, AL.
